Biography – Pierre Lallemand (born 1959)
Pierre Lallemand is a Belgian architect, designer, and artist trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Co-founder of the Art & Build firm, he developed a body of work marked by a sculptural approach to design from the 1980s onwards.
He collaborated with the publisher Moonlight Design / Bis Lighting, which produced his luminaires such as Cyclops, Ptolemy, Paradox, etc., in the 1980s–1990s. These creations combine Pyrex glass, stainless steel, aluminum, and sometimes concrete or marble for certain models.
Some of his outdoor lamps designed for Moonlight were installed in public spaces in Belgium, visible in particular along avenues or urban squares. His work is both functional design and an architectural poetry of light.
Pierre Lallemand also designed a bicycle called Ecce Bikes (also called Ecce Cycle Opus): two urban models (Sport and Cruise) with a minimalist and sculptural design, made with a carbon frame and high-end components, reflecting a refined aesthetic in coherence with his architectural and poetic approach to design.
