Object description :

"Small Antique German Porcelain Planter Putti 19th Century Meissen Style"
Uncommon, beautiful small planter in antique 19th century enameled porcelain circa 1860–1890. German manufacture, Saxony/Thuringia, numbered under the base with a fine blue brush on the biscuit, another mark visible near one foot, indecipherable, typical of Saxon and Thuringian workshops of the second half of the 19th century (Sitzendorf, Volkstedt, Dresden…) inspired by Meissen. Rectangular shape representing a basket, richly decorated with putti in the round holding floral garlands in polychrome applied paste, craftsmanship, entirely hand-painted. Pretty pastel colors, pink, blue, pale yellow... The flower garlands are in more frank, multicolored tones. Approximately 23cm in maximum length and 14-15cm in maximum depth with the exterior decoration, 11cm in height. Internal dimensions 15.5cm in length 8.5cm in depth, at the narrowest (opening, flared on the bottom). Overall good condition, nevertheless showing inevitable traces of time, notably accidents and relatively numerous losses to the flowers, probably missing handle whose base has been filed down very discreetly, overall quite harmonious, the losses on the flowers are especially visible up close, we will also note vestiges of gilding on the edges, not bothersome. No cracks, no chip on the body. Decorative piece in the German rococo revival style of the 19th century, charming and sweet. Approximately 1,600 kg.
