"Trio Of Gaiwans, Small Chinese Covered Tea Cups, Hand-painted Porcelain"
Precious trio of small covered tea cups, or Gaiwans, in hand-painted Chinese porcelain and brass. Antique late 19th early 20th century, in the Jiaqing style, apocryphal brand signature, 乾隆年製, Qiánlóng nián zhì, "Made during the reign of Qianlong" under the bases, in reality it is a later production intended for export to Vietnam. However, these are unusual objects due to their antiquity and fragility, many have disappeared over time. Rounded, tall shape, with small round bases, small domed lids fitted with a flat button. White porcelain hand-painted with stylized blue bamboo motifs, very elegant and fine. Rims of the buttons, bottom of the lids and top of the cups circled with gilded brass, chic. Porcelain cracked by time and use and stained by tea, especially in 2 of the lids, not bothersome. 7.5cm max height, with lid, 4.5cm height without, 6.3cm max diameter. Very good general condition apart from the patina and natural cracking, no chip, no crack, dirt under the buttons, part of the patina, clean and shiny brass with some light marks of time. They could be used as small boxes or will find their place in a collection. Approximately 130gr each. The porcelain lets concentrated beams of light pass through but is quite thick and heavy, it is not Imperial porcelain.
