"Bronze Incense Burner, South China, Circa 1900."
Tripod incense burner in patinated bronze, decorated with inlaid auspicious characters and floral motifs. The openwork lid is topped with a finely sculpted Fo dog (guardian lion), serving as a grip and protective symbol. The two-handled body rests on three arched feet and is accompanied by its matching base. Under the bottom, an incised mark "同光" (Tong Guang), probably in reference to the end of the 19th century. Decorative and ritual object, traditionally intended for burning incense. Beautiful collector's item, representative of bronze work in colonial Indochina, combining Chinese influence and local know-how. Height: 17 cm Condition: patina of use, minor wear related to time.
