Filigree Zoomorphic Candlestick, 19th Century

- Filigree zoomorphic candlestick, late 19th century work.

- Candlestick with a wide, high base consisting of a tray serving as a podium for a deer depicted with its paw raised. Its noble appearance is enhanced by beautiful features: gilded antlers and hoof, eyes adorned with a ruby-colored hard stone, and a gilded facing arranged in a lambrequin on its back. It is on this that the candlestick's shaft rests, around which a garland of flowers is wrapped before receiving a hollow socket.

- In addition to its zoomorphic appearance, this candlestick is distinguished by the abundant use of filigree. A process which, applied to gilded brass, offers an elegant openwork decoration with a lace-like appearance and adds texture and depth to the whole.

- Also note the Chinese-style ornaments on the feet of the podium which mark the eclectic appearance of this candlestick and make it unique.

- Good condition. Two formerly restored feet.

- Dimensions - Height: 20 cm, Width: 12.2 cm, Depth: 9 cm
