Flemish Tapestry With A Gallant Scene, 17th Century
- Tapestry woven in a Flemish workshop, early 17th century. This weaving, of wool and silk, presents us with a gallant scene in a green setting where we can see an opening onto a few buildings suggesting the outskirts of a village. Reading this painting invites us to discover several scenes; in the foreground, the declamations of a man, hat in hand, to two elegantly dressed women while in the background, a trio of musicians accompany the embraces of a couple sitting on a rock.
- With a beautiful decorative effect, this piece is surrounded by a wide border containing garlands of flowers and fruits interspersed with female and male figures that recall the people in the central painting.
- Doubled tapestry with a fixing system (rings)
- Dimensions - Height: 3.28 m, Width: 2.47 m - Good condition, wear in the weave and old restorations are to be noted (Cf Photos). Doubled, fixing rings
