Regency Style Caned Beechwood Armchair, 19th Century
- Large Regency-style armchair, made of beechwood, dating from the 19th century.
- This armchair features four cabriole legs, each with a carved acanthus leaf at the base, its tip adorned with a rocaille motif. The quadrangular, shaped seat rail rests on a front stretcher carved in its center with small flowers from which spring a stem with slender, delicate leaves, extending into the lower molding that creates a vegetal motif following the curve of the legs. The side stretchers are straight and carved with a vegetal motif along their lower line. The projecting frame is caned. The recessed, curved armrest supports have a rounded face carved with a vegetal motif. The armrests are straight and notched to accommodate leather arm pads that match the seat and are secured with tacks, while the rounded, projecting headrest features an elegant, high-relief carving decorated with scrolls. The caned back is violin-shaped and free-standing, its molded faces adorned with plant motifs similar to those previously mentioned; the upper rail is carved with small flowers within a large, shell-shaped leaf flanked by acanthus leaves, followed by a scroll extending to the shoulder, while the lower rail is decorated in its center with a shell motif.
This chair is distinguished by its comfortable dimensions and the refinement of its decoration, resulting in a very elegant and comfortable armchair.
This armchair has a removable brown leather cushion that matches the arm pads.
Good structural condition. Some parts have been redone.
-Dimensions: Height: 91.5 cm, Width: 69 cm, Depth: 60 cm, Seat height: 31.5 cm
