Important Mahogany Armchair From The Regency Period.
A rare carved mahogany armchair from the early 18th century. The curved stretcher is carved with a floral shell surrounded by scrolls and foliage. The S-shaped armrest supports, set back from the front legs, rest on strongly curved side rails. The four cabriole legs, adorned with acanthus leaves at their tips, rest on small sabots. The back and seat are stuffed with horsehair. The upholstery has been completely redone in hand-stitched chenille velvet. In very good condition, with two small chips on the sabots and one missing petal from the floral motif. A port chair made in the 1720s or 1730s.
