Floral-patterned Tapestry, 18th Century

- Floral-patterned tapestry, 18th-century work.

- This woven piece features a charming, symmetrical design of floral motifs with numerous touches of red. The design and the shades of green and red used are reminiscent of the leaf and flower motifs and color harmonies found in 16th-century Northern European “Aristoloches” or “Verdures à grandes feuilles” tapestries (example of a “Verdure” tapestry held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, inv. no. 38055). The design is framed by a border featuring geometric diamond motifs in beige and dark blue.
- In good condition; the tapestry is lined and features a hanging system with rings sewn onto the braid on the reverse side.

- Tapestry dimensions - Height: 55.5 cm, Width: 80 cm

- Dimensions of the mounted piece with braid - Height: 74 cm, Width: 91 cm
