An exceptional, large and sturdy fireplace, made out of the blackest-black marble: Noir de Mazy. Ca.1860, the period of the house it once stood. The serpentine frieze is nicely carved in high relief, depicting an androgynous face in the center in a baroque setting, flanked by some trailing flowers. This work is also echoed on the scrolling endblocks. The panelled jambs are also decorated with a floral motif. Fireplace will be delivered with it's own cast-iron fireback.
