Fireback, 17th Century

It's a rare cast-iron fireback of the type 'Kaschle-offe' also called 'Biwwel-offe' (Bible-heard), because of the biblical decorations.
These kind of firebacks were introduced in the 17th century and their use continued afterwards. They were mostly produced in the iron-foundries of the Dietrich family in Niederborn and Zinswiller, in the north of the Alsace. The text below this fireback is unfortunately difficult to read complet, but it refers to the two miracles  of the prophet Elisha from the old testament.
