This Napoleon III-era fireplace (1852–1871) was crafted from a highly valued Griotte (Cherry) marble and Noir de Mazy marble.
The Napoleon III style is characterized by its eclecticism. This imposing mantelpiece once stood in an important 'Maison Maître' in Brussels. One photo shows the fireplace during the restoration, when it was in our 'Intensive Care'. This fireplace features various ornamentation, the massive pilaster shaped jambs are crowned with ionic-capitels and little gilded bronzes.
