"Sevres Soft Paste Porcelain Jewelled Open Square Tray, The Porcelain C.1779"
A Sèvres porcelain “jewelled” open square tray (plateau carré à jour), the porcelain c.1779, the decoration later. Intricately gilded and jewelled in red, blue, and white enamel on a deer blue (bleu nouveau/beau bleu) ground, with pierced Vitruvian scroll sides, the central section superbly painted with two cherubs riding a classical dolphin, probably after Francois Boucher.
Maker’s marks: Interlaced “L”s, BB date letter (1779), incised “139”.

Condition: Good. Some losses to jewelling. Accretions around the edge of the central panel (see image), which did not wash off with warm, soapy water. Small “fleabite” chip to inside of base rim.
