"Asian Patinated Bronze Statuette – Japan, Meiji Period (1868-1912)"
Asian statuette in finely chiseled and patinated bronze, representing a seated man, dressed in a kimono decorated with floral motifs, holding a fan in one hand and a bag decorated with Japanese inscriptions in the other. The character, with an expressive face, is represented in a relaxed posture, seated on a stump, his gaze slightly turned towards the sky. The base, richly decorated with a regular geometric pattern, is bordered by a finely worked frieze. The fineness of the details – folds of the garment, facial features, engraved decoration – fully illustrates the refinement of Asian art and the know-how of Japanese craftsmen of the Meiji period. Mark on the reverse. Dimensions: 16 × 12.5 × 14.5 cm
