"From Jf De Goez, Brichet (active 1783), 18th Century Engraving, Red Chalk, Old Man, Cane, Frame"
Very beautiful 18th century engraving after a red chalk drawing by Josef Franz de GOETZ and engraved by François-René BRICHET (active around 1783) representing an old man with a cane and entitled "Ha c'est là où git le vierre". The old man looks terribly like Voltaire. The engraving bears a number 42 at the top right. We know other portraits engraved by BRICHAT, such as Narcissus and other characters. Fine details and the old man's face. Some slight stains on the paper are regrettable but not shocking! Frame dimensions: 37 x 28.5 cm.
