Yvonne Thivet (1888-1972) Martigues Landscape Seascape

A very beautiful and luminous oil on canvas by Yvonne THIVET.
This female painter, born in 1888, was a student of Ferdinand HUMBERT at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
She is, of course, listed in the BENEZIT.
She exhibited in several Parisian galleries as well as in Algiers.
She is considered an Orientalist painter.
This canvas is a pendant to the previous one, but I can sell them separately or offer combined shipping for both.
They likely depict the same place: probably "Les Martigues."
This charming portrait of the Mediterranean has been a favorite subject among painters.
Here again, Yvonne THIVET uses Fauvist tones that beautifully convey the intensity of southern light.
The paint is generous and thick.
The painting is signed in the lower right corner.
Please note a small area of missing paint in the sky—nothing serious. I am selling this painting "as is," just as I bought it.
