"Portrait Of A Noblewoman, 17th Century, By Jean Ducayer And Claude Deruet, Louis XIII, Nobility, Widow, Oil On Canvas "
Oil on canvas, Louis XIII period - 17th century, depicting the portrait of a young noblewoman in mourning attire. Her face, with its fine features and delicate complexion, is representative of the idealized beauty of portraits from this era. Two attributions are possible: Jean Ducayer or Claude Deruet. Both painted portraits of noblewomen or royalty with similar features: extremely fine curly hair, a small, red, heart-shaped mouth, and wide-open eyes with slightly drooping eyelids. It is very difficult to definitively attribute it to one or the other, as portraits were rarely signed, but portraits in the same style are sometimes attributed to Ducayer or Deruet. This very old painting, from the first half of the 17th century, has been relined. Dimensions: 56.50 cm x 47 cm.
