19th-century Painting Of A Small Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Dog, Hunting Animal, Dove, Gilt Frame, Palmettes
Late 19th-century oil on wood depicting a small dog: a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel playing with a blue ribbon. Behind him are a dove, a bow, and a quiver full of arrows, an allegory of hunting. This painting bears a monogram in the lower right corner that I have not identified. The painter was inspired by a work by Jean-Baptiste Huet, an animal painter of the late 18th century. The colors are vibrant, the painting is very well executed, and the artist is quite charming. It is presented in its original frame with palmettes, in gilded and stuccoed wood. There are a few very small losses to the molding on the inner edge of the painting, but nothing serious; they have been regilded. This painting is in its original condition, just as I bought it. It is ready to hang. Framed size: 44 cm x 33 cm. Image size: 36 cm x 26 cm. Shipping within France via Colissimo registered mail with insurance and excellent packaging: €25.
