Battle Scene, Large Painting Signed Lucien Sergent
Important oil on canvas signed lower left Lucien Sergent, battle painter (1849-1904), recounting an episode of the war of 70, a fight between French marine riflemen and Prussian soldiers. The painting is in its original condition, the varnish is shabby and yellowed, small hole at the top right, but no missing material or repainting. The beautiful original frame in gilded and patinated stucco is missing moldings. Restoration quote on request for the painting or the frame.
