Rare and unusual carved bone sculpture depicting Napoleon standing on a blackened wooden base with a brass rim. The figure is finely depicted in a solemn posture, dressed in a detailed costume, with ornate tricorn, epaulettes and sabre.

Description

The piece opens at the bust, revealing an interior carved in bas-relief, illustrating a military scene: horsemen, soldiers, cannons and complex narrative elements. Each interior door also features a small carved scene.
The detailed work and the depth of the engraving testify to remarkable know-how.
