"Louis XV Chest Of Drawers, Stamped J. Jollain, 18th Century "
Pretty little Louis XV chest of drawers, curved on all sides, stamped J. JOLLAIN, from the 18th century. It opens on the front with 2 drawers on 2 rows, it rests on 4 arched feet, fitted with gilt bronze clogs. It is topped with its thick Royal Red Marble Veined in Grey, with a Corbin Beak all around. Thickness: 3 CM. It is in Rosewood Marquetry of sinuous shape, in Amaranth Frames. It measures 80 CM in Length, 48.5 CM in Depth and 86.5 CM in Height. It is in very good condition. J.JOLLAIN, Adrien Jérôme ( - 1788), received master cabinetmaker on August 1, 1763. Like Balthazar Lieutaud, Jollain specialized in the production of clock cases and regulators, probably influenced by his belonging to a family of clockmakers. He provided some fine examples of regulators (reference: regulator reproduced in the work of Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier du XVIIIe siècle, p. 445). This one is entirely marquetry of yellow wood flowers and green stained wood on a satinwood background, curled in V. The sides are veneered with satinwood arranged in butterfly wings or X (fern), in amaranth wood frames. Originally a bellows organ was located in the scalloped base. It rests on a 19th century black shell marble base with canted sides.
