Stamped Transition chest of drawers, 18th century
Charming little "Transition" chest of drawers, 18th century period, in rosewood veneer laid out in chevron frieze, framed with brass fillets.
It opens on the front with four drawers in three rows, comprising two drawers in the upper section with a trompe-l'oeil simulating three drawers, and two drawers in the lower section.
The front is adorned with bronzes including keyholes and pull handles. The sides are inlaid with herringbone geometric panels, highlighted with fillets.
The rounded jambs are inlaid with bronze.
The rounded uprights rest on slightly arched legs finished with bronze sabots, characteristic of the transition period between the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles.
Original gray veined marble top with corbin beak.
Commode bearing an antique stamp "G. CASTIN" stamped in the wood.
Beautiful craftsmanship, elegant proportions, decorative and functional piece of furniture.
