Pair Of Louis XIII Armchairs In Walnut With Footrests, Circa 1900
Pair of large Louis XIII armchairs in walnut with matching footrests – Circa 1900
A very fine pair of large Louis XIII-style armchairs in walnut, circa 1900, accompanied by their two matching footrests.
This set stands out for the remarkable quality of its joinery and the woods used. The armchairs feature tall, straight backs, wide seats, and beautifully curved armrests, offering generous proportions and a commanding presence.
The base is particularly noteworthy, with very beautiful turned and carved legs, connected by ornate crossbars in the style of Louis XIII furniture. The walnut work is of fine quality and features a warm patina that perfectly highlights the piece’s volume and various moldings.
The construction follows traditional joinery methods: the entire piece is fully assembled and doweled, reflecting particularly meticulous and careful craftsmanship.
The armchairs are upholstered in a beautiful floral tapestry, featuring large compositions of flowers and foliage in warm, luminous tones. The tapestry is in very good condition and complements the deep color of the walnut particularly well. The upholstery is accented with traditional decorative tacking.
The two matching footstools feature the same upholstery pattern as well as the same design as the armchairs’ legs, thus forming a complete, harmonious, and particularly decorative set.
A pair of armchairs of very fine craftsmanship, comfortable and imposing, which will easily find their place in a large living room, a library, or in front of a fireplace.
