Elegant pair of hand-painted porcelain vases, of French origin, probably manufactured in Paris, circa 1850. Each vase has a wide, flared body with a gadrooned edge and polychrome decoration representing oriental figures in a stylized landscape, flowers and arabesques in the style of 18th-century chinoiserie. The lower part is decorated with a frieze of colored enamel cabochons in relief on a gilded background, supported by a pedestal with floral decoration and resting on a square base decorated with bouquets of roses.
