"Fireplace Plaque With The Alliance Coat Of Arms Of Le Besgue De Nonsart And Anglure (65x79 Cm)"
Fireback cast in the 19th century, reproduction of a period plaque from the early 18th century, with the alliance arms of Le Besgue de Nonsart and Anglure and with undetermined arms, despite our research their descendants not being known, we were not able to establish an alliance. It could be that the coat of arms on the left is the alliance coat of arms of Nicolas Le Begue (1591-1659), squire lord of the tower of Nonsart, lieutenant particular of bar in 1636, and Jeanne d'Anglure. The Le Bègue de Nonsart family originally from Vitry-le-François came to settle in Barrois in the middle of the 16th century. The Anglure family is a house of noble extraction, originally from Champagne. It provided many lay lords, bailiffs, military governors and churchmen to the County of Champagne and the Duchy of Lorraine, a bishop to the diocese of Marseille, two archbishops to the archdioceses of Toulouse and Bordeaux. Blazon: On the right: 1 and 4, azure a crowned lion armed and langued gules, holding a battle axe argent accompanied by three escallops or two and one, of Le Begue de Nonsart. On the 2 and 3, or semé de crescents gules surmounted by a grillet argent, of d'Anglure. On the sinister, undetermined arms: double-headed eagle displayed surmounted by a chevron gules. The coats of arms, in a cartouche, are surmounted by a marquis' crown and a crowned lion holding a battle axe. In support: two wild men.
