17th Century Feeding Trough For A Pack Of Dogs.

A feeding trough, likely for a pack of dogs, made of Saint Cyr au Mont d'Or stone, carved in the 17th century, in a rare state of preservation, fitted with four containers, each 10 cm deep and 27 x 22 cm in cross-section. Saint Cyr au Mont d'Or stone (Rhône): With shades varying from gray to black (the most prized) or ochre with violet veins, the distinctive feature of this stone is the inclusion of gryphaea, a mollusk similar to an oyster that lived from the Late Triassic to the Cretaceous period, 237 to 65 million years ago.
