"Fireplace Plate With Arms Of The House Of Lorraine (85 X 85 Cm)"
Fireplace plate with the coat of arms of Duke Leopold of Lorraine, cast print in the 20th century of a plate dating from the early 18th century. The shield, encircled with the order of the golden fleece, surmounted by a royal crown, is supported by two savages holding a club. These savages were attributed to the Duchy of Bar by Leopold probably during the first quarter of the 18th century. Coat of arms: Cut from four kingdoms supported by four duchies, or from three lines, cut from one, which make eight quarters: to the 1st silver burelé and eight-piece gules which is from Hungary; to the 2nd azure sown with fleurs-de-lys of gold, without a broken number in chief of a lambel with three gules pendants which is from the Two Sicilies; to the 3rd silver to the cross potence of gold, confined to four crosses of the same which is from Jerusalem; at 4 d'or to four pals or stretch marks of gules which is from Aragon; at 5 d'azur sown with fleurs-de-lis of gold at the border of gules which is from Anjou; at 6 d'azur to the lion contoured in gold with a double tail, lampassé is crowned with gueules which is from Gueldre; at the 7th of gold to the lion of sand, armed and pasted with gueules which is from Juliers; at the 8th of azure sown with crosses recrossing at the foot set in gold to two barbels leaning against each other equally stitching on the whole which is from Bar. On everything: gold to the band of gules loaded with three silver aurions which is from Lorraine (primitives) Its weight is 71kg.
