AFTER JULES BRATEAU (1844-1923)

Circular display stand with an umbilicus, decorated with flowers, rows of pearls and openwork.
Diameter: 28 cm.
Post mortem edition circa 1960 of the model created in 1887.

This is the display stand for the so-called "Persian" ewer (see last photo) bearing the three hallmarks used by the foundries GRAS and ETIENNE in ANGERS.
Post mortem editions never bear the "au gibet" countermark used by Jules Brateau.
Perfect condition. The pieces from Jules BRATEAU's molds, contemporary with the artist or post-mortem, published by GRAS and ETIENNE, are always of a remarkable cast finesse equal to those of Jules BRATEAU. Moreover, it is not a question of chasing, the piece "comes raw cast" without chisel work, which implies a very fine mold and a very great mastery of the casting techniques.
