Pewter pitcher with a shoulder shape, flared base, straight oblique cup and acorn thumb. It is decorated with turned threads. Control mark: crowned ff / 1714 / C.DE BAYEUX. (for Contrôle de Bayeux)
D.PILET's mark, master before 1770: bunch of grapes / 1770 / D.PILET / BX (BX for Bayeux)
Capacity: 0.914 liters
Height: 22 cm.

Rare Lower Normandy provenance; only 7 examples have been found in the last fifty years.
Very beautiful condition and quality and bears the master and control marks.
This is the Lower Normandy type II called "shouldered". Let us recall in passing that these pitchers were the official wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
