Exceptional pewter EWER with a decagonal section, cylindrical body, straight and oblique base and throat, fitted with a rectangular handle with a curved base.
Clear hallmark of the artist, affixed twice: M. DAURAT.

One of the best coppersmith artists of this period, many of whose creations are preserved in French and American museums in particular. His works were exhibited in the major art and craft fairs of the time alongside those of DESPRES, LINOSSIER, DUNAND, JOUVE, SCHMIED, MAYODON, LALIQUE, RUHLMANN…
This “museum” ewer, probably unique, is made up of different rectangular and trapezoidal elements, cuted, forged, then adjusted to the template from a thick sheet of pewter, and finally welded together. The pedestal is ingeniously reinforced by a bronze disc.
