Small cast iron devotional plaque featuring three religious figures in architectural niches: likely the Archangel Michael, the Virgin Mary, and Christ. The piece is clearly inscribed “L’AN 1516,” suggesting it was made to commemorate a significant event that year. Given its French origin and religious iconography, it may have been produced in connection with the Concordat of Bologna (1516)—a major agreement between King Francis I and Pope Leo X that reshaped the relationship between the French crown and the Catholic Church. This rare early 16th-century object reflects the devotional and political climate of its time. Excellent patina; three probably later suspension holes.
