Antique Chinese Canton Enamel Collection For Vietnam, Indochina, 19th Century

A splendid and highly decorative collection of 19th-century Chinese Canton enamel, made for the Vietnamese market during the period of French Indochina.

The six-piece collection comprises:

• A large vase, height 30 cm
• A very rare pair of candlesticks with removable sconces, height 27 cm
• A pair of goblets, height 17.8 cm
• A hexagonal cup, height 11.5 cm

Each piece is richly decorated in polychrome enamels with finely painted scenes of figures in garden and palace settings, surrounded by floral ornament, auspicious symbols and deep blue enamel grounds. The large vase is additionally mounted with decorative animal-mask handles.

Chinese Canton enamel made specifically for Vietnam is increasingly sought after, and it is particularly unusual to find such a substantial and varied collection remaining together. The pair of candlesticks with their original removable sconces is especially rare.

There is enamel loss and other damage throughout the collection, all clearly illustrated in the detailed photographs.

This collection is sold exclusively as one complete lot. The individual pieces will not be separated.
