Antique Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Vase Converted To A Lamp, Bird & Peony, 19th Century

An antique Chinese porcelain vase decorated in the famille verte palette, later converted into a lamp.
19th century (c. 1850–1900).

This antique vase is finely painted with a long-tailed bird perched upon a scholar’s rock among blossoming branches, peonies and foliage. The shoulder features alternating floral panels and geometric diaper patterns characteristic of late Qing famille verte revival work. The bright enamels—greens, iron-red, yellow and black outlining—are typical of quality 19th-century decoration.

Mounted on a later European bronze/brass base and fitted with decorative metalwork to form a lamp.
Total height to the finial: approx. 59.5 cm.
Height of the porcelain vase alone: approx. 37.5 cm.
