A very fine late 18th century depiction of The Madonna with Child. In perfect alignment with the Italian School the work demonstrates certain softness of characteristics which may associate with the Florentine and Venetian School's.

Clearly influenced by a range of Renaissance painters of the region the work is well executed and shows a high level of tactile interaction between The Madonna and Child and illustrates a good technical level of artistry as well as an accomplished skill level in the use of tonality and light. The reminds one of the "Madonna del Granduca," by Raphael, created around 1505. It is an oil painting on panel that depicts the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus and the painting offered may have been influenced by this work.

The colours remain strong and atmospheric and blend well with the subtle use of gold to highlight the garment and Nimbus.

We are offering the work as generic late 18th century Italian School and aside to the reference to Raphael's composition above our own research suggests the painting is not a copy of any known work.

Condition report: In clean and restored condition the painting was lined approximately 80 years ago. A few very small areas of retouching and light cracquelure throughout the painting. The paint surface is stable and the canvas is in good tension.

Note the painting will be framed exactly as in the photos . We have the frames made for us by order and there will be up to 14 days delay in shipping if the frame has not come into stock . Should the buyer prefer the painting supplied without the frame this will be possible and the cost of the painting in this circumstance will be reduced by 200 euros.
