JAPAN - Edo period (1603-1868). Samurai Wakizashi. FUSHI - KASHIRA and KOJIRI in suite with gadroon decoration dotted with silver droplets. TSUKA in wood covered with ray skin. MENUKIS of large size in chiseled, patinated and gilded copper depicting a long-armed monkey on one side and a group of three shishis on the other. KOZUKA in chiseled and gilded copper decorated with three monkeys on a nanako background. SAYA in lacquered wood, KURIGATA decorated with stylized foliage scrolls, very finely chiseled silver-plated copper ornament depicting a dragon, a turtle, a phoenix and a Kylin. HABAKI in gilded copper hatched with oblique striations. Straight blade, regular hamon, straight and well marked, the tang pierced once and unsigned. Sold with the stand, its silk sheath for transport. Dimensions: 57 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm. Blade length with tang: 51.2 cm.
