JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Tanto. FUSHI and KASHIRA matching set in black horn. TSUKA in wood covered with stingray skin. MENUKI in chased, patinated, and gilded copper depicting a flowering branch. KOZUKA in chased, patinated, and gilded copper decorated with three sheaves of flowers on a nanako background. SAYA in wood with textured black lacquer, adorned at its tip with a menuki depicting a samurai on horseback. Simple HABAKI in silvered copper. Straight blade, regular, straight, and well-defined hamon, the tang pierced once and signed. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 4.5 x 46.5 x 2.5 cm. Blade length: 40 cm.
