JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Katana. FUSHI and KASHIRA in a set in silvered copper depicting stylized geese flying in clouds. TSUKA in wood covered with ray skin and black silk braid. MENUKI in chased, patinated, and gilded copper depicting a dragon in clouds. TSUBA maru-gata in finely chased and partially gilded openwork iron depicting a dragon in foaming waves, the mimi gilded. SAYA in wood and red lacquer finely decorated in silver hira maki-e with dragons in clouds, kojiri in silvered copper depicting a chilong. Simple HABAKI in gilded copper. Straight blade, regular, straight, and well-defined hamon, the tang with one hole, signed. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 101 x 7.5 x 6.5 cm. Blade length with tang: 89.9 cm.
