Bronze Salt Cellar, Renaissance Period, With Openwork Gallery; 16th-17th Century
Rare salt cellar, good size: 8cm x 7cm, sand-cast bronze, it rests on 3 cut-out feet, lower border with two threads, overflowing profile, body with openwork basketwork decoration, strong threaded upper border.
Inside is nested a cast bronze cup, cylindrical, thick, with a wide border. (this border shows the scars of an old tin repair, below.)
I think it is a work from Northern Italy, Renaissance period, but my customers know that better than me.
Dimensions: 7cm x 8cm, weight: 340gr,
