Rare and curious pewter bottle or gourd on an openwork base, with 2 handles, depicting a historical/religious subject: the Christ's resurrection ?
The 2 handles look like 2 profile dragons, while the 2 medallions depict the same religious scene.
It should be noted that we can clearly see the same type of molded work as on the famous pewter patens from Nuremberg.
The rounded main body, with its 2 flat main faces, rests on a double openwork base.
A rare piece that I have never encountered before (thank you for any assistance you can provide regarding the reading of this piece (identification of the religious scene, provenance and references,...).
Condition:
Pewter is a malleable and relatively fragile metal: dents and 1 indentation, scratches / marks especially on the protruding parts, a small missing area at the weld of the neck on one of the 2 faces, original but weak weld at one of the feet,... Related to the approximately 400 years old.
Dimensions:
20.5 cm height
* 16.5 cm width * 6.5 cm depth
