Muséum Renaissance Period Oak Stair Railing

Artist: Provenance Présumée Chateau De Castries (hérault)
Haute époque
Renaissance period, rae stunning and large Renaissance period oak stair railing with gray patina made by:

* starting pillar is a small life-size cariathid bust (total height approx 170cm) on a sheath, surmounted by a huge ovoid pine cone,
The naked woman bust wears around her neck a chain with lys flower pendant. It is also funny to note that the most used wear, related to its repeated use of this stair ramp, is not that of the pine cone used as a stair ball,... !

*The balusters are turned and carved with prominent cubes with geometric patterns in their center,
*a lower frieze silt with vegetal decoration, typical of the Renaissance, with on the back the notches of the steps and counter-steps
*the handrail or high crossbeer,

This Renaissance period great quality set dates around 1570, fully original and homogeneous, and has never been restored, denatured, which makes it an extremely rare architectural element (I havn't found any other wooden carved to compare to this one).

This ramp was acquired in Hérault area -South of France, in the village of Castries, and its high quality of sculpture suggests that it comes directly from the castle of this city (the medieval castle was destroyed around 1520 and fully rebuilt from this time, its current architecture dating mainly from the 1st third of the XVIIth century)
Approx 3m length, which corresponds to about an average floor of 2.2/2.3m, which is an ideal standard level of reuse for a new architectural destination in straight staircase, and... a new life!
