"Pair Of Engravings From The Early 19th Century. "
These large color engravings representing Roman monuments are the work of Benedict Piringer, he was born in 1780 in Vienna, Austria, and died in Paris in 1826. He was a draftsman and engraver using etching and aquatint. They are both captioned, "View of the Temple of Concord in Rome" and "View of the Temples of Antoninus, Faustina, and Jupiter Stator in Rome", "In Paris at Bancé L'ainé, rue Saint Denis n°214". The draftsman is a certain Junto Tardé about whom we have found no information. They are preserved in old pitch pine strips. In good general condition, they have retained their margins. However, it is necessary to note some humidity stains and alterations at the base of one of them and some small stains on both. Frame dimensions 72 cm x 82 cm, internal dimensions of the marie-louise 48 cm x 55 cm.
