This silver-plated metal bowl bears the Saglier hallmark. It depicts a kneeling nude woman supporting a scallop-shaped basin. It was likely a centerpiece intended to adorn a table and comprised several elements. In good overall condition, it shows some wear on the raised areas. It is the work of the master silversmith Victor Saglier, whose hallmark was a three-masted ship surrounded by the letters V and S. Renowned for his Art Nouveau creations, he collaborated with, among others, Majorelle, Daum, and Gallé, and like them, he drew inspiration from forms found in nature. The business, located at 12 rue d'Enghien in Paris, was taken over after his death in 1894 by his brothers, who continued production until the mid-20th century. Art Nouveau period.
