"Still Life With Fruit, 19th Century Gouache. "
A few walnuts, a bunch of grapes, juicy peaches and pears, as well as some currants and blackberries, what could be more succulent than these fruits? Painted in gouache on a marble entablature, this work on paper from the mid-19th century is the worthy heir to the still lifes painted in the 17th and 18th centuries, whose success has not diminished until today. The care taken in the composition, the velvety texture of the peach, the transparency of the grapes seduced me from the first glance, as well as the small bouquet of violets and the white jasmine flowers that brighten the whole. The frame is in the Louis XV style. A small stain is visible on the right of the composition as well as in the upper right and left corners. 19th century period. Frame dimensions 54 cm x 61 cm, view 32 cm x 40 cm.
