"3 Panels Of Embroidered Yellow Silk. Asia 19th Century China Or Vietnam"
The three panels are very large, together they cover an area of more than 11m² (each panel 295x125cm) which makes it a truly exceptional embroidery work. On a yellow silk background are embroidered birds and butterflies flying around bamboo. The embroidery stitches are very small and sewn with the greatest precision. The very well-drawn subjects which are represented in full flight are of a dynamism full of life. Let us remember that the yellow color was that of the Chinese imperial family and that, especially in embroidery, this color is more appreciated than any other. Good condition. No repairs or tears. One stained panel, to be seen on photo. Chinese characters are embroidered, probably a workshop mark which could allow a more precise dating and location.
