Augustus Jules Bouvier (1827–1881) was a French-born London-based painter of portraits, figures and genre scenes. He was the son of the artist Jules Bouvier (1800-1867), who was born in Paris, but moved to London in 1818. Bouvier entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1841 and afterwards studied in Paris.
Augustus Jules Bouvier produced a series of drawings of Queens of England, which were also later engraved. The artist's work is well collected and his refinement of detail and tonality made him one of the pre-eminent painters of the aesthetic movement within the specialism of the watercolour medium.
