Biography:
Giuseppe Dangelico Daeni, better known as Pino, is a celebrated Italian-American figurative artist who is best known for his romantic and intimate paintings, in particular works where his characters inhabit sensuous dressing rooms or boudoirs. He is noted for his talent for capturing the expressions and movements of his subjects.
Pino's trademark style is characterized by softly lit females painted with smooth greenish shadows and distinctive, thick pastel-tinted highlights, often with vibrant colored dresses and backgrounds. The artist's female characters are often depicted deep in thought or waiting for their lovers.
Description:
This work is a provocative depiction of a young female in her bedroom, her pensive expression and relaxed pose suggests that she is waiting for someone. She holds a piece of red material over her chest, as though she has perhaps been disappointed by her expected guest.
Signed to the bottom left "Pino" and is consistent with the artist's signature. Also signed and dated in hand to the verso.
The current auction record for this artist at auction is 52,650 USD for Coffee in the Kitchen, sold at Jackson Hole Art Auction in 2015. Other notable sales include 28,000 USD for Longing for... and 26,775 USD for Dancing in Marbella, both sold at Coeur d’Alene Art Auction.
