"Paris Porcelain: Pair Of Bottles In The Shape Of Gallant Subjects"
The old regime and its gentle way of life is a subject of sweet regret, still alive throughout the 19th century. It is a source of inspiration for all aspects of decoration, porcelain is no exception. Our subjects represent two young people, dreamers and certainly lovers, sumptuously dressed. They are bottles, to decorate a dressing table, and we owe the presence of the stoppers, a flower on the hat of each, which have often disappeared. The clothes are particularly sumptuous, the young man wears stockings embroidered with gold, the basques of the young girl's dress are made of a fabric with a precious pattern. Not marked on the back, alas, but we are very close to the productions of Jacob Petit. If we only deplore a part of the hand of a young man discreetly glued back, the whole is in excellent condition, and the freshness of the colors and the gold is intact.
