"The Iliad And The Odyssey. Translation By Dugas-montbel. Didot 1818"
The Iliad and the Odyssey have been translated many times. This is one of the most famous of the early 19th century. This epic then enjoyed renewed success, to the point of entering the smallest corner of interior decoration: overmantels, clocks, paintings, wallpapers frequently evoke the voyage of Ulysses. Dugas Montbel (1776-1834) is an important Helenist, his translation will be authoritative. Four octavo volumes, covered with a half binding in good period condition. The papiest in very good condition, the work of Didot, printer of the King, is still done on rag paper, with a superb typography.
