"Henri Perrot (1896-1976) “farm In Languedoc”"
Henri Perrot is a 20th-century French painter known for his luminous landscapes, often inspired by the South and painted with a thick paste using a knife, in the post-impressionist vein. He is one of those regional artists appreciated for their technical mastery and their attachment to the terroir. Superb oil on hardboard signed lower left, titled on the back “Ferme en Languedoc”, accompanied by the handwritten mention Format 12F and dated in pencil 1964. This work is a lively rural scene of a peasant on a path bordering a southern farm. The whole is painted with great vigor using a knife, in a generous and dynamic material, typical of Henri Perrot's style. The bright light, the ochres and greens typical of the landscapes of the south of France, the upright cypresses and the cerulean sky create a warm and vibrant atmosphere. The precise and nervous knife stroke gives an almost sculptural relief to the surface, making this work very decorative and expressive.
