Large Charcoal drawing enhanced with white chalk on paper, depicting a young lawyer or magistrate in black court robes and traditional toque. The drawing, signed lower right A. Duverger, demonstrates precise work in the volumes and rendering of materials, typical of official portraits of the Belle Époque. The circular headdress evokes the old toque of the people of justice, which fell into disuse at the end of the 19th century.
